| Mysterious lighting ... this photo has generated
a great deal of interest since I first showed it. I've been asked
countless times, what is it? Who are they? Where are they going?
The obvious part is that this group of people are walking out of
a tunnel ... the rest will remain a mystery.
The group appear small due to their distance from the camera, and
due to the size of the mouth of the tunnel. The misty air along
with the recent rain have left the tunnel and the ground damp with
moisture. The subdued lighting forced me to use a very slow shutter
speed, leading to some blurring in the photo; that said, I feel
that rather than detracting from the photo this blur actually enhances
the mysterious look of the print.
This is a photo of one of the following:
- Miners walking out the final few feet of
the mining shaft at the end of their shift, or,
- Hikers leaving a tunnel after a long, wearing
hike, or,
- A search and rescue crew approaching the
scene of an accident, or,
- Electrical workers who just finished repairing
downed lines after a large storm
