Bitan Fun Triathlon - Taipei County, Taiwan

In the summer of 2002, David Toman, a local foreigner, with experience in Ironman Triathlons around the world decided to host a small event near his home. Bitan, which means Green Lake, is a beautiful area just south of Taipei City. In the afternoons and evenings, the lake is filled with paddleboats and paddleboaters, and the shores lined with restaurants, carnival type games and countless karaoke establishments. However, the early mornings bring cooling breezes, elderly exercisers and not much else. These are the photos of the inaugural Bitan Fun Triathlon.
