A Winter's Walk at Blue Mountain

Eastern Ontario's Leeds County is a fairly flat chunk of land. From atop a relatively small pile of rocks, named "Blue Mountain", views can extend for hundreds of kilometres, with visibility at times allowing you to see the mountains far to the east in northern New York State. Panoramic views aside, the real beauty of the area lies in the abundant wetlands. Beavers are constantly changing the area, downing trees and frequently diverting water. Mosquitoes and other flying pests can be a real pain in some seasons, but are nowhere to be found in winter ... even if "winter" means an early spring snowfall, like the day the photos below were shot.
